About candidate
About you
I am a dedicated and versatile Facilitator with a blend of educational, employability and entrepreneurial experiences. I have been a teacher and private tutor for 6 years, ran a jewellery business for 8 years and have experience in facilitation, marketing and tourism. My years of employment have allowed me to develop several skills to a high standard, including but not limited to: communication, presenting, organisation, creativity and problem solving.
What are you looking for in a new role?
I love learning new things and being challenged. Teaching and training people is a passion of mine, so I want to continue building this expertise. I have experience with the mentioned key responsibilities, such as engaging facilitation, course and resource creation and using data analysis to make constant improvements.
This role sounds exciting and I would love to be considered for it!

What you are interested in working with us?
This role stood out to me immediately. It is very varied and will provide a nice balance of new challenges with things I am confident about and have done in previous roles, such as resource creation and data analysis. This is the exact role I have been looking for as my next full time role.
It is also very useful that the role is flexible location wise (please correct me if I am wrong). Being able to work from anywhere is a really nice perk and will keep me motivated. I love travelling and seeing the world, but I also love working as a Facilitator. This role means I can do both!

What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
Starting out as a teacher! My full time teaching career started at a Further Education college mid-academic year in January. I walked into a classroom on my first day (30 minutes after arriving for what I thought was going to be an induction day) and began teaching a class of 30 mostly 16-18 year olds. I felt extremely unprepared and nervous, but I did my best to be the leader and ensure the class went smoother.
I had three more classes that day, but used my breaks to quickly prepare for each and calm my nerves. They went a lot smoother and I finished the day feeling less overwhelmed than a few hours before. From then on, I was always prepared for the unexpected and I learnt to always have a backup plan. Things often don't go to plan and that's okay. I can improvise and solve problems as best as I can to keep things moving forward. Perfect does not exist, but the students/participants/clients have to be happy with the service I'm providing.

Dear hiring manager,
Please see my CV attached for consideration of the Remote Virtual Training Facilitator role.
My most relevant experience is my time as a Facilitator for Catch22, where I co-designed, delivered, and managed engaging CPD accredited training about online harms. The training sessions were anywhere between 1.5 and 6 hours and were delivered to parents and professionals from a range of industries and services both in-person and remotely. I produced all of the resources with my manager, but delivered 95% of the sessions on my own. The sessions were engaging and included quizzes and group activities, such as discussions in break out rooms. The feedback was always positive and I had a 35% average increase in their learning after each session. I analysed the data from the feedback forms to make changes to the training to constantly improve it.
I am currently a freelance Facilitator where I deliver various sessions in schools. As every school and class is so different, I use a range of facilitation techniques to engage with them and hit my targets. A few years ago, I created a jewellery making course from scratch which I sold online, targeted at adults. The course was well structured and easy to follow; it was for beginners. I engaged with participants on the platform and gave feedback on their finished jewellery projects.
Outside of my facilitation experience, I have 3.5 years of classroom teaching experience and 3 years of tutoring experience, both online and in-person, and I have a level 5 teaching and training qualification (DET/PTLLS). I have worked with many different personalities and know how to make sure everyone feels included in the sessions and can actively engage and learn. Please see my CV for details of my other most recent and relevant employment. I'd be happy to discuss any questions you have.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Kind regards,
Shanice Harrison
