About candidate

About you
Professionally, I am a team facilitator, life coach and adventure guide. I have worked for schools, teams and organizations and have created my own programs to facilitate team building experiences. Once a season, I guide groups on wilderness adventures to use adventure as a learning platform to cultivate a greater understanding of ourselves, our leadership styles, our ways of interacting with teammates and with our environment. I offer coaching to individuals and small teams to help them be clear in their goals in life, become self-aware of what is in the way between them in their goals, and offer strategies to support them in achieving their goals. I bring a tremendous amount of passion, enthusiasm, experience and organization to my work and take pride in seeing clients feeling inspired, fulfilled and empowered on their journey.
What are you looking for in a new role?
In my next role I am looking for a full schedule of team facilitation that helps groups recognize their goals and work together to achieve them as efficiently as possible. I am looking to be working with team members, as well as leadership members to help the group carry out the mission and vision of the company.
What you are interested in working with us?
I am interested in working with you because of my genuine passion for helping teams. I was born working with teams since I could walk. From sports teams, to creating small businesses growing up and hiring friends to be on the team, to developing larger businesses and working as a leadership development consultant and team facilitator. This is the work that makes me feel alive!
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
A challenging experience was running a teambuilding immersion in the wilderness, when a lightning storm hit us. We were a group of 12, focused on building skills that can help the group with their leadership skills, communication methods and enhance awareness of self, team and environment. As the lightning stuck trees nearby, needless to say, all of the group was put to the test in all of the tools we had been working with!

As an enthusiastic, skilled and highly motivated team facilitator, I am excited about the potential of joining your team as a Virtual Team Facilitator. I have served companies, schools and organizations as a team facilitator since 2016 and bring an abundance of passion to the position. I have facilitated teams in wilderness settings, in school settings and virtually as well. Trained in leadership development and team building through Outward Bound International I have served as a lead facilitator for the Philadelphia Outward Bound School, the American Youth Foundation and have created and facilitated teambuilding courses both in person and virtually through my company Soulful Adventures. I find great satisfaction in supporting teams in achieving their goals efficiently, in a way that fosters more connection and fulfillment.

As a current life coach, former college varsity basketball player, basketball coach and representative in the 2019 Outward Bound international symposium for leadership development, I bring a wellspring of inspiration to team facilitating. My greatest gift is in my ability to create a welcoming and engaging environment where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves and share their ideas, insights, challenges and concerns confidently. I am trained in teaching various communication styles and am comfortable diving way deeper than simply ‘passive,’ ‘aggressive’ ‘passive-aggressive’ and ‘assertive.’ Trained and practiced in NVC (non-violent communication), drawing on my B.A. in Psychology and influenced by my training as Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, I support team cultures in become more self-aware and conscious in their words, thoughts and actions. Conflict resolution is second nature to me, having facilitated countless conflicts in life or death situations in the wilderness settings with small and and medium sized groups. Facilitating conflict virtually now feels comparatively easy, yet still requires a keen, and in some ways heightened sensitivity, as it is important to pick up on social-emotional cues over the screen rather than in person.

I am a lifelong learner and it is my joy to inspire others to embrace such an approach to life. Having organized countless team meetings, facilitated professional development workshops and monitored team growth through leadership-based metrics of success and progress, I bring experience to the table that can help teams recognize their goals, work together cohesively to achieve them, and communicate clearly and effectively together while achieving them. I have facilitated countless feedback sessions, taught workshops in giving feedback and fully understand the necessity to incorporate a healthy feedback culture into teams and companies. I feel more than equipped to be of service to your teams in this way.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Given my track record serving as a team facilitator, I feel confident to help enhance every team I work for with you with a great deal of passion, skill and enthusiasm. I look forward to speaking about this opportunity more with you soon.

Sincerely,

James Moon
