About candidate

About you
I am a motivated administrative professional with years of management experiences, looking for a position more in line with my life's passions. I am very driven by helping others, education, and being able to make lives better as a whole. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have much insight in that realm, but have also focused a lot in areas of intersectionality within minority groups, and had a lot of specialized education around women's rights, gender, discrimination, and more.
What are you looking for in a new role?
I am seeking to reach new heights in my own personal development, while doing everything I can to make the world around me better each step of the way. I know I have a lot to offer with how I can work with people, my knowledge base, management experience and critical thinking abilities. I want to take these skills and apply them to a bigger role for my developing career that is more in line with my more long-term passions in life.
What you are interested in working with us?
I am exploring many options within the realm of diversity management positions, and I am very much interested in knowing more about the current initiatives to also assess my own interests based on the goals of said employer.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
I can be over analytical at times, and my disability sometimes gets in the way of my time management. However, I always follow through on my work.

Cover Letter:

To whom it may concern,

I am a professional who is looking to advance their career further within the realm of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as this area of focus is a huge passion of mine. I believe this opportunity may be one fitting of my experiences, along with my desires on future career development.

Outside of my own background as a transgender individual, my background of study was very much in the social and psychological sciences, along with gender and sexuality development, with a focus also on diversity awareness. I have also been working directly with and in the DEI Employee Resource Council for 3-4 years and am the current Co-Chair for our PRIDE group.

I have been working in the administrative side of Home Care for over a decade, in which I have developed a lot of skills with regards to interpersonal communications, project and personnel management. I also work with both diverse and delicate populations, in which I deal with open and vulnerable conversations regularly, like regarding discrimination, health emergencies (physical or mental), assisting grieving families/caregivers, etc. I have a strong sense of patience and compassion for folk of all walks of life and backgrounds.

Within the realm of my ERC work and diversity, I have many experiences and skills to reflect on. I have participated in volunteer events, such as being an educational web-cast panelist, attended local nursing school events on DEI presentations, volunteered at both company-hosted events and for events like Philly Pride, etc. I’ve had a huge hand in educational material development with our ERC members that have been company-wide distributed, or have affected long-term policies, etc.

As a member of ERC leadership, I have helped develop and lead projects, meetings, finish projects, and more; we also consider how to present projects and ideas to upper executives as needed, etc. Budgeting, reviewing and mindfulness, procurement, group communications, meeting material preparations, and more are also a part of our joint leadership tasks.

In addition to our work in the PRIDE ERC, I also work in collaboration with other ERC pillars on projects or education with intersectionality in mind, like during National Women’s Day/Month, or when navigating polarizing subjects. I have worked alongside our social media managers to develop picture, video and written content to be shared on social media platforms. I am also proud to have a co-authored published article on diversity in Minority Nurse Magazine.

I appreciate your time and consideration in this review and look forward to hearing your thoughts at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,

  • Kiara Herth
