About candidate

About you
As a medical transcriptionist, I have experience in preparing medical reports, including history and physical examination, operative reports, pathology reports, radiology reports, and discharge summaries. I transcribed at the George Washington University Medical Center’s Radiation Oncology Unit when I was in graduate school, completing coursework in medical terminology at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., as part of a curriculum focusing on planning health services. I completed coursework in health services administration at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and worked at the Mid-Ohio Health Planning Federation. I registered with Robert Half International on their health care team and worked at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center at Baltimore, working in an office setting, preparing detailed notes from meetings and conferences. I graduated from the Stratford Career Institute with a certificate in Medical Transcription. I am an independent contractor.
What are you looking for in a new role?
I am looking for part-time remote work. I am skilled at working independently, for example, during the Covid-19 pandemic. I completed all my work requirements and maintained exemplary performance evaluations. I also have a laptop and all the necessary equipment for transcription. I would like to serve businesses in my area related to the medical industry.
What you are interested in working with us?
I would like to use my medical terminology skills, my writing skills, and my transcription skills that I have been using up until the present time. In my capacity working as an independent contractor, I attend many meetings and have been often asked to prepare minutes or meeting notes. I realize the importance of capturing accurately the essence of the proceedings, and I do so quickly and with attention to grammar, spelling, syntax, and paragraph structure.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
While working at the George Washington University Medical Center’s Radiation Oncology Unit in Washington, DC, I was in a very demanding position because of the caseload of the unit. There were many patients, some with very complicated diagnoses and treatment regimens, which required me to be available to handle the fluctuating demand. Similarly, when I worked at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center at Baltimore, I had a wide range of job duties, from preparing detailed notes for meetings and conferences, to setting up luncheon events for the physicians and medical interns. I would like to focus on medical transcription at this time.
