About candidate

About you
I'm a public relations specialist with six years of experience helping clients secure impactful media opportunities that amplify their missions and drive meaningful change. Throughout my career, I've worked at 3 public relations agencies, each with a unique focus - nonprofits, economic development and commercial real estate. Through these experiences, I have developed at track record of media placements and discovered my love for crafting thoughtfully tailored pitches that resonate with target audiences.
What are you looking for in a new role?
I've been reflecting on my long term career goals and what I'm looking for in the next chapter in my professional journey. I'm ready to transition from working on multiple client accounts at an agency to dedicating my efforts to help a single organization achieve their media relations goals.

Also, my current position requires a 1 hour 30 minute commute three days a week, so I'm interested in a new role with an entirely remote work environment.
What you are interested in working with us?
I’m drawn to this opportunity because it aligns with my passion for crafting impactful content and successfully securing media placements that amplify client’s goals. The chance to cultivate media relationships, pitch newsworthy stories, and write compelling content resonates with my strengths and experience.

The company’s dedication to innovation, its remote work environment, and emphasis on professional development make it an ideal place for me to grow while driving meaningful results.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
In my previous role as an account executive at Violet PR, I had the challenging experience of communicating with an unhappy client.

This was a new client we had for about a month, and I followed up via email regarding a press release awaiting review. I received a phone call from the client immediately after sending the email, so I assumed she wanted to discuss the press release over the phone.

The reason for her call was not to review the release, but to share how unhappy she has been with the agency's efforts. I was extremely taken back, as she never expressed disapproval before this and only recently began working with us.

I kept my composure, apologizing for any miscommunication and let the client know that I will tell my boss, the owner of the agency, to set up a call with the two of them to discuss the contract and our responsibilities.

As soon as the call was finished, I began crying and asked my supervisor if she had a moment to talk. After telling her about the call, she offered support and ensured me I handled the situation well. She was glad that I didn't start arguing with the client, and instead passed the issue to the president to handle.

Through this experience, I learned to never expect to know what a client is thinking and showcased my ability to stay calm under stress.

Dear Hiring Manager,

I’m an ideal candidate for the remote corporate media relations specialist position, with six years of public relations experience and a proven track record of generating media opportunities for nonprofit organizations, economic development agencies and other clients that work to make the world a better place. I am confident that my skills and passion align with the goals of your team, and I’d love an opportunity to discuss how my background fits with your organization.

In my current role as a PR & communication specialist at Social T Marketing & PR, I’ve secured coverage for clients that has generated over 950 million impressions. My role involves developing strategies that align with the client’s goals and leading media outreach campaigns. I proactively pitch media to secure opportunities for clients, build relationships with journalists, assignment editors and producers, and regularly communicate with clients though in-person and online meetings, emails, phone calls and text messages. This position has sharpened my ability to simultaneously manage multiple PR campaigns, build and maintain relationships with journalists, assignment editors, producers and other media, craft compelling content, and effectively communicate with clients and other key stakeholders.

In my previous role as an account executive at Violet PR, I had the opportunity to work with Invest Buffalo Niagara, a nonprofit that's mission is to attract new employers to the Buffalo Niagara region, supporting business attraction, expansion, and entrepreneurship. Through proactive pitching, I secured a four-page spread for Buffalo in Innovation & Tech Today as a featured “Tech Zone” in the outlet’s summer 2022 print issue. In addition to my work with nonprofits and economic development organizations, I also position clients as industry experts. In my current role, I pitched esteemed luxury RealtorⓇ  Rebecca L. Francis as a source for REALTORⓇ Magazine on Lehigh Valley’s emergence as an alternative to living in big cities like New York and Philadelphia. The pitch resulted in Rebecca’s feature in the magazine’s summer 2024 issue center spread article, “Smaller Markets, Big Results.” I also regularly secure guest appearances for clients on Lehigh Valley’s top news station, WFMZ-TV 69News at Sunrise, including stories on internship retention, summer learning loss, and women’s body acceptance.

In addition to my media relations experience, I am a strong content writer, frequently drafting and editing press releases, media alerts, blog articles, contributed articles, pitches, case studies, award nominations, and more. I have a certificate of completion for AP Stylebook’s Workshop, an in-depth course that reviews common rules and mechanics, as well as essential concepts including making judgment calls and creating house style rules.

I’m personally involved with nonprofits dedicated to building a thriving, culturally vibrant community. I’ve been on the board of DAWN Center for Independent Living for three years, and I’m a member of ArtsQuest’s PR committee.

My digital portfolio is linked here. I’m happy to share additional writing samples and media placements upon request.

Thank you for considering my application. Please contact me at (201) 983-7300 or amiee.goldy@gmail.com to schedule a conversation.
