About candidate

About you
I am a dedicated and enthusiastic individual and couples' counsellor, trained in psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, systemic, CBT, and transactional analysis models of therapy. I am seeking an exciting opportunity to utilise my expertise in couples counselling.
What are you looking for in a new role?
Couples counselling role: to support complex relational dynamics by addressing emotional conflict, poor communication, unconscious processes, power dynamics, and infidelity, while balancing the needs of both partners.
What you are interested in working with us?
I like working therapeutically online with couples. However, I have found that I do best when working within a supportive organisation. I worked at Relate Coues' Counselling untill they amalgamated with Family Action.

From the Naukri Mitra website, I see that your organisation requires a counsellor who recognises that a 'one size fits all' approach is not appropriate for achieving the best outcomes. I value the flexibility involved in assessing the needs of both the couple and the individual to ensure a personalised approach is adopted, thereby avoiding the ineffective 'one size fits all'.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
One of the most challenging counselling experiences I have encountered in couples counselling is assessing and intervening in cases involving domestic abuse. This dynamic requires a high degree of sensitivity and consideration, particularly when navigating the complex emotions and behaviours of both partners. It's crucial to ensure that both individuals feel safe and supported while working through their issues. Often, the perpetrator is seeking a way out of their destructive behaviours and is in need of guidance and support to make meaningful changes. Addressing these underlying issues while fostering open communication can be incredibly challenging yet essential for healing and rebuilding the relationship. However, just as often, it involves a safeguarding issue in which support from clinical staff is required.

Dear Couples Counselling Online,

I am writing to express my keen interest in the Couples online counselling position advertised via Naukri Mitra. With over 20 years of experience as a qualified psychotherapist working with individuals, couples, and groups, I bring both clinical expertise and relational sensitivity to therapeutic work with couples navigating complexity, uncertainty, trauma, and loss.

My training encompasses a diverse range of approaches, including psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, systemic, transactional analysis, and cognitive behavioural therapy. This comprehensive training equips me to adapt effectively to the unique needs of each client and together as a couple.

Currently, I am employed by the Relational Therapy Centre (TRTC), where I provide in-person and online couples’ counselling services. The agency was previously affiliated with the esteemed Relate Relational Counselling. However, as a charitable organisation, the centre has encountered challenges in meeting its demand due to a subsequent acquisition by another company.

Prior to this, I facilitated a group counselling process for five years specifically aimed at addressing addictions. My approach was mainly transactional analysis and cognitive behavioural therapy, combined within a person-centred framework.

Furthermore, I have engaged in writing counselling assessments for the Home Office at the Women’s Therapy Centre in North London. This role involved providing a professional evaluation of an individual’s mental state and its relevance to their immigration case.

I am confident that my experience and qualifications align with the requirements of the position. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to discuss my qualifications further and demonstrate my suitability for this role.

In the meantime, I extend my best wishes for your successful recruitment drive.

Kind regards

Beth
