About candidate

About you
I am Comptia Security+ SOC Analyst with 2 years of experience in Security Operations, specializing in incident response, threat detection, and SOC automation. At Comcast, I have worked extensively with tools such as Splunk, XSOAR, EDR, Crowdstrike, and Azure to investigate security incidents, fine-tune alerting mechanisms, and lead process improvements. My work has been recognized through multiple performance awards and a fast-track promotion to SOC Engineer 2.
My interest in digital forensics began during my undergraduate studies, where I practiced using tools like Autopsy and FTK Imager to analyze disk images and uncover digital evidence. This foundational experience sparked a deeper passion for investigation and analysis, which I continue to build on through my Master’s in Cyber Security. I am now focused on transitioning into a digital forensics role, where I can apply both my operational experience and forensic skills to help organizations investigate, respond to, and learn from cyber incidents.
What are you looking for in a new role?
I am looking for a digital forensics role where I can investigate security incidents, analyze digital evidence, and help organizations understand and respond to cyber threats. I want to use the skills I’ve gained in SOC operations and tools like FTK Imager, Autopsy, Wireshark and Splunk in a more focused forensics environment. I’m also hoping to learn from experienced professionals, improve my investigation techniques, and contribute to building stronger, safer systems by helping identify the root causes of incidents.
What you are interested in working with us?
I’m genuinely enthusiastic about the chance to be part of a team that focuses on digital forensics and cyber investigations. I’m especially motivated by organizations that encourage learning, practical skill development, and meaningful contributions to cybersecurity. Working with your team would give me the opportunity to strengthen my forensics knowledge while applying the hands-on experience I’ve gained in incident response to support real-world investigations and threat analysis.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
One of the most challenging experiences I faced was during a phishing campaign that triggered a high volume of alerts across the SOC. I assisted in identifying impacted users, analyzing malicious emails, and applying detection logic in Splunk to improve response time. It required close coordination with senior analysts and other teams to ensure timely resolution. This situation helped me understand the importance of fast triage, detailed investigation, and clear communication during security incidents.

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Digital Forensics Analyst role at your organization. With two years of experience in Security Operations and a strong foundation in digital investigation techniques, I am eager to contribute to a team dedicated to uncovering and understanding cyber incidents.

In my current role as a SOC Analyst at Comcast, I have worked with tools such as Splunk, XSOAR, CrowdStrike Falcon, and Azure to detect, investigate, and respond to threats. I’ve contributed to automation projects that reduced response times and improved alert accuracy, and I was promoted to SOC Engineer 2 in recognition of my performance. I also hold a CompTIA Security+ certification and am pursuing my Master's in Cyber Security to deepen my expertise.

My interest in digital forensics started during my undergraduate studies, where I practiced using tools like FTK Imager and Autopsy to analyze disk images and understand forensic investigation workflows. I recently applied these skills in a CTF competition where I ranked in the top 30%, further solidifying my passion for the field.

I am excited about the opportunity to join a digital forensics team where I can apply both my technical knowledge and investigative mindset to support impactful cyber investigations. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,
Ashita K
