Please accept my application to become a Virtual Public Policy Research Analyst for Naukri Mitra. I have extensive experience using various quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and consulting various sources (including academic journals, policy reports, and government documents), to produce and disseminate policy research for various stakeholders. I also have extensive experience in organizing policy research work and collaborating both in-person and remotely with research teams to produce such work. For these reasons, I believe I am a very good fit for this position.
I have many years of experience as a data analyst and policy researcher. My Ph.D. education in Political Science involved extensive training in various research methodologies, applying these using various software tools (such as Stata, R, and Excel), and creating high-level policy research. I have produced numerous high-level policy research written pieces, published in leading academic presses and journals, for use by various stakeholders, including students, scholars, and government policymakers. Three research projects highlight my skills as a data analyst and policy researcher. The first project is my 2020 book published with the Oxford University Press, Accessible Elections: How the States Can Help Americans Vote. In this work, I examined the different voting and election administration policies in the 50 American states and evaluated using millions of individual-level observations how these laws impacted voter turnout. The second project is my 2023 Election Law Journal article, “Assessing the Impact of United States Postal Administration and Election Administration on Absentee and Mail Voting.” In this piece, I created a new postal performance index, along with information on postal administration and election administration policies, to see how well different postal districts across the U.S. helped implement absentee or mail voting. The third project is my 2024 Election Law Journal article, “Measuring County Election Administration in the United States.” In this work, I used data on county election policies and processes, and created a comparative index to assess how counties throughout the U.S. are performing in administering elections, with the intention of this project being to provide local, state, and federal government policymakers more information on what election policies are best to produce certain outcomes, like voter access or election integrity. These projects demonstrates my qualifications for the Naukri Mitra position.
In conclusion, thank you for your consideration of my application. If you have any questions or interest in my candidacy, please feel free to contact me via email at mritter3922@gmal.com or phone call at 1-715-529-6772.
Sincerely,
Michael Ritter
