About you
My name is Sreelekshmi Saju. I am an enthusiastic AI researcher with an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning. As a graduate student, I built strong foundations in Python, Tensorflow, Pytorch, GANs, and deep learning. I completed a variety of impactful projects that included a GAN-based fetal heart Ultrasound image enhancement and an anatomical feature recognition study using Grad-CAM; this demonstrated my competence in applying innovative AI solutions to solve real-world issues.
In addition to research, I was also a coordinator of an AI-IoT Lab, where I taught hands-on sessions and experimented with emerging tools. I am passionate about ethical explainable AI and enjoy creating systems that are intelligent, scalable and transparent. I am a creative team player and I am eager to join a goal-orientated organization where I can contribute to the team and continuously grow while developing AI that has real-world value.
What are you looking for in a new role?
In a new position, I am looking for the ability to contribute to transformational real-world AI solutions that present intellectual challenges, as well as help me grow technically and creatively. I work best in environments that embrace curiosity, experimentation, and thought-leadership - a place where I can really have an impact while learning from, and collaborating with, a diverse team of people. I'm particularly interested in roles that go beyond building models and focus on delivering scalable, ethical, impactful, and usable AI systems. I also value having an opportunity to autonomously move forward asynchronously, with an open culture of communications and continual learning, as this is how I thrive - focused, driven, but still team and collaboration oriented. I immensely value mentorship and receiving feedback; I need these to sustainably develop. What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
One of the hardest experiences I had was during my M.Tech research project where I developed a GAN model for enhancing fetal heart ultrasound images. The dataset was noisy, small, and imbalanced, which resulted in training of the models being highly unstable and unpredictable - particularly with GAN architectures. I had to dive into data preprocessing, trial various loss functions, and use more sophisticated techniques such as PCA and K-means clustering in order to extract informative patterns. To be successful in this study required a willingness to persevere, an emphasis on continual experimentation, and learning from the failures. With some tuning and analysis, I eventually arrived at a stable model with 98.9% accuracy. To summarize, I learned about resilience, creativity in problem-solving, and the necessity to evaluate rigorously. Attributes I have carried into all subsequent projects.
