Dear Human Resources Department,

As an ambitious bilingual (English and Arabic) professional with communication proficiency and extensive faculty and student teaching, learning, and support experience. I was excited to learn about this position. I was compelled to contact you with my interest as it would highlight being considered for such an opportunity to work at such an institution in higher education. I have 8 years of experience teaching and mentoring online and face-to-face ESL college students from various cultural backgrounds and mentoring teachers, and I have a TESOL certification. I worked for California State University, East Bay (CSUEB), using LMS, specifically Canvas, Blackboard, Blackboard Ultra, and CourseArc. I have leadership experience creating presentations, maintaining spreadsheets, hosting Zoom workshops and webinars for faculty to train them, and adding and editing programs for the eLearning department and course content into LMS before publication. I graduated with a Master of Science degree in eLearning from CSUEB. I developed course materials using multimedia and development tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360, Kaltura, Panopto, and Prezi. I currently work as a program developer at Cal State LA where I develop, monitor, and budget programs. I have an EdD in Higher Education Leadership and Management at Walden University. I possess quantitative and qualitative data statistical analysis knowledge through my EdD courses.

Following the institution’s mission to promote the institution’s benefits and secure resources that transform lives in the community, I have pursued service-learning work at the MiraCosta Community Learning Center in Oceanside, California. I assisted students in accessing student services such as setting up tests, attending workshops, and accessing materials. Other duties included administering student assessments, reviewing test results, and assisting students in preparing applications. The institution’s mission to foster the intellectual and holistic success of its diverse learners is something I have professionally pursued in my career, teaching students from all over the world, including China, the Middle East, India, and Taiwan.

The primary mission of my journey ultimately aligns with and believes in the institution’s mission, which includes a caring and equitable environment while strengthening the educational, economic, cultural, and social well-being of the communities it serves.

Enclosed, please find my resume for your review. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you kindly,

Dr. Leila Abouzaki
