About candidate

About you
Hello, I'm Pavithra, a dedicated mental health professional with a background in Psychology, MSW in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, and a PG Diploma in Mental Health. I have over five years of experience in the disability sector and have worked extensively in crisis intervention, tele-counselling, and training at 181- Women Helpline, Tamilnadu. I’m passionate about supporting individuals through evidence-based practices like CBT, and I'm continually upgrading my skills to make a meaningful impact in the field of mental health.
What are you looking for in a new role?
In a new role, I'm looking for an opportunity that allows me to apply my clinical and counselling skills to support individuals' mental well-being, while also continuing to learn and grow professionally. I value environments that are collaborative, ethically grounded, and focused on making a real impact. I'm particularly interested in roles that offer flexibility, allow me to work with diverse client populations, and encourage the use of evidence-based approaches like CBT and trauma-informed care.
What you are interested in working with us?
I'm interested in working with the organization that gives commitment in providing accessible and quality mental health support aligns closely with my values and experience. With a strong foundation in counselling, crisis intervention, and community mental health, I believe I can contribute meaningfully to your team. I’m interested in working by using client-centered approach and the opportunity to work with diverse populations, which will also allow me to continue growing as a mental health professional.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
One of the most challenging experiences in my past role was managing a high volume of emergency crisis calls during the COVID-19 pandemic while working as a Helpline Manager at Women Helpline 181. Many of the cases involved domestic violence, child abuse, and severe mental health distress, and required immediate and sensitive intervention. The emotional intensity, coupled with the urgency to respond quickly and effectively, was mentally demanding. However, it also strengthened my crisis intervention skills, emotional resilience, and ability to make quick, ethical decisions under pressure.

I am writing to express my interest in the counselling/ Therapy position. With a Master’s degree in Social Work (Medical and Psychiatric Social Work), a background in Psychology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health, I bring a strong academic foundation and over six years of professional experience in the mental health and social work sectors.

My previous role as Helpline Manager at Women Helpline 181 allowed me to handle more than 1000+ emergency calls, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. I provided crisis counselling, managed sensitive cases involving domestic violence and child protection (including POCSO cases), and trained tele-counsellors to respond ethically and effectively. I have also worked in the disability sector, focusing on inclusive education, advocacy, and psychosocial support for individuals and families.

My clinical internship experience has sharpened my understanding of psychiatric conditions and therapeutic techniques, and I continue to deepen my expertise through certifications in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based practices. I am particularly interested in client-centered approach and hope to contribute meaningfully to your team’s mission.
