What has been most challenging experience in a past role?

One of the most challenging experiences in my current role as Group Financial Manager, overseeing a group of 24 companies, has been managing the full compliance function across all entities. The group was in its early growth stage when I joined, with limited financial infrastructure in place and a significant backlog of financial records requiring cleanup. Implementing month-end procedures, standardising processes, and introducing internal controls from the ground up demanded a strategic and hands-on approach. It was a complex task, but also a rewarding one, as I was able to establish the necessary structure for accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and scalable financial management going forward.
