About candidate

About you
I have 14 1/2 years in non-profit development, mainly as a grants writer. I have served nonprofits in the environment, health care, and social & human services fields, helping them secure six-figure grants from cities, state agencies, and charitable organizations. Besides writing grants, I have written press releases, website copy, social media, annual reports, direct appeals, and fundraising materials.
What are you looking for in a new role?
I am seeking a remote, part-time role as a grants writer for a nonprofit. I am also open to part-time, on-site roles in the Hartford, Connecticut area. My preferred work schedule is up to 3 days/20-24 hours per week.
What you are interested in working with us?
I have enjoyed writing grants and hope to do so on a remote, part-time basis for a new nonprofit. I think my extensive background in grants writing will let me excel in any grants writer position.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
Two years ago, I was asked to write a federal grant only eight days prior to the deadline. I went at the task in as efficient, organized, and determined manner that I could. I created a skeleton outline of the grant per the questions in the RFP and wrote as I much as I knew how to complete it. I emailed colleagues for input on metrics and program specifics. I wrote lists of items that our project partners needed to provide. Together with a few other writers, the grant got done. Glad to say, we found out the next month the grant was awarded for $1.2 million.

Dear Naukri Mitra Professional:

I would like to apply for the grant writer role that Naukri Mitra advertised. Being part-time, the role fits with my design to devote more hours each week to personal projects than I do currently.

A significant part of my career has focused on advancing environmental causes. For eight years as a regular employee and over a three year period as a consultant, I was development officer and grants writer for Connecticut Coalition for Environmental Justice, a Hartford nonprofit that fights to protect urban environments. I helped the organization secure grants for successful campaigns to close the last coal plant in Connecticut and to shutter Hartford's trash incinerator, the nation's fifth largest trash burning facility.

My grants work extends to several other nonprofits. For over three years, I have been a grants writer for HRA of New Britain, a poverty relief organization in central Connecticut. I have written successful proposals for HRA that gained six-figure awards from local cities, state agencies, and charitable organizations in support of projects that range from renovating a food resource building to training people to be community health workers.  In addition, I wrote grants for a year for InterCommunity, a federally qualified health center in East Hartford, Connecticut. I obtained significant grants for InterCommunity that supported HIV education and vocational training for people in addiction recovery.

I hope in light of all I've said that you think I'd be apt for your grants writer role.  Please feel free to contact me by phone: 860-231-0263 or email: norbertk@att.net if you would like to connect. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Norbert Kovacs
