About candidate

About you
I am a recent public affairs graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas. I am passionate about leadership and DEI based on my experiences in Nigeria and in the U.S. My knowledge, skills, and ability go beyond those areas as I am also invested in organizational behavior and human resources. Beyond my work and education, I enjoy film, music, sports especially soccer, and traveling when I can
What are you looking for in a new role?
I am looking for a role that I can constantly learn from to benefit myself, my position, and my organization. I would like a role that is challenging but not beyond my knowledge, comprehension, and abilities. Ideally, this would be a role that I would flourish in and continue to add great value to the role and the organization. This would be a role that in doing my job well would contribute to the growth of the organization
What you are interested in working with us?
As someone dedicated to DEI, leadership and organizational management and behavior, this organization matches my ambition, and interests and its mission closely aligns with my beliefs and interpretation of diversity and management. Furthermore, it is a reputable organization that would allow me to fully utilize my knowledge and research while also helping the organization grow and accomplish its goals and objectives.
What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
Working for Soccer Without Borders has been my most challenging role so far in my professional journey. Transitioning from an academic background in arts to public affairs, while relocating to a new country, presented unique personal and professional hurdles.

The nonprofit sector demanded a different set of skills, including adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of community engagement, which were essential for my role working at SWB. Organizing events to support the youth through sports required balancing strategic planning with hands-on involvement. Simultaneously, moving to the United States exposed me to unfamiliar cultural dynamics, pushing me out of my comfort zone and necessitating rapid integration into a diverse environment.

In the end, my time at SWB was wonderful and it deepened my appreciation for cross-cultural collaboration, sharpened my organizational skills, and reinforced my passion for creating inclusive spaces, a value that underpins my career in public affairs and my commitment to DEI.

I have a keen interest in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist position. As a recent doctoral graduate in Public Affairs, with over seven years of professional experience spanning academia, public administration, and private industry, I bring a unique combination of research-based insight and practical expertise in fostering inclusive organizational cultures.

During my doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Dallas, my research focused on the intersection of leadership and DEI, culminating in a groundbreaking dissertation analyzing leadership dynamics across 15+ ethnic groups in Nigeria. This work not only developed a novel framework for advancing DEI initiatives but also provided actionable recommendations for implementing equitable practices in diverse organizational settings. My ability to translate complex theories into practical solutions is exemplified by my leadership framework, which has influenced strategies in both public and private sectors.

As a Teaching Assistant at UT Dallas, I independently designed and delivered courses on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, emphasizing inclusive leadership practices. I also collaborated with stakeholders during my tenure at DeWayles International Limited to improve project staffing plans, standardize communication protocols, and align team capabilities with organizational goals. These experiences honed my skills in cross-cultural communication, stakeholder engagement, and policy development.

I am deeply passionate about advancing equity and inclusion in the workplace and thrive on building collaborative environments where diverse perspectives are valued and leveraged for organizational success. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills to the organization and help further its mission.
