What has been most challenging experience in a past role?
One of the most challenging experiences I encountered was when I first joined the team at Life Time Inc. and took on the responsibility of overseeing a wellness initiative that was facing significant employee skepticism. The initiative involved offering earned discounts, but due to past issues with employees not receiving their rewards as expected, there was widespread distrust and confusion. This led to low participation and frustration among employees, which I noticed immediately upon joining.

Recognizing the importance of rebuilding trust, I took the initiative to collaborate with Human Resources, the Benefits team, and Internal Communications to overhaul the way we communicated the program to employees. We identified several pain points and worked to create clear, consistent messaging. I led the effort to design multiple communication strategies that addressed frequently asked questions, clarified the process, and used visual aids to make the information more accessible and easier to digest.

In addition to refining the communication, I recognized the need to engage employees at the ground level. I spent time connecting with supervisors and managers across departments to ensure they felt confident in explaining the changes to their teams. I organized numerous department visits and scheduled pre-shift meetings with employees, where I personally addressed their concerns, provided clarity on the new process, and answered questions in real-time. These one-on-one interactions helped to humanize the program and make employees feel heard and valued.

While it was initially a challenging situation, the effort paid off. Over time, participation in the wellness program significantly increased, and the feedback we received indicated that employees felt more confident in the process and the company. Rebuilding trust took time, but the experience taught me valuable lessons about the power of transparent communication, employee engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. It reinforced my belief that addressing concerns head-on and maintaining open lines of communication are key to overcoming obstacles and creating a more engaged workforce.
